For clients with email hosting, you will need to setup an email account on your mail program. This page explains how to do this for Outlook Express. Other mail programs will have different procedures but the basic principle and key settings will be the same.
Click here for Instructions for Microsoft Outlook.
Open Microsoft Outlook Express, then click the Tools menu and select Accounts
This will bring up a new window, Internet Accounts.
The Mail panel should automatically be shown with your existing ISP e-mail account. Click Add, then Mail to bring up the Internet Connection Wizard window.
Enter your name and then click Next
Enter your main email address as notified by Solnet, then click Next.
Enter the POP3 Server and SMTP Server as notified by Solnet, (normally relaygate.solnet.co.uk) then click Next.
Enter the Account Name and Password as notified by Solnet, then click Next. (Note that account names will usually resemble your email address and will include your full domain name)
Click Finsh on the next screen to return to the mail accounts window, DO NOT CLOSE THE MAIL ACCOUNTS WINDOW yet!. The accounts window will now show the new account, although there are still more settings to enter.
Ensure the new account is selected (blue) and click the Properties button
On the 'General' page, you may wish to enter a more sensible name rather than use the system generated name. Maybe put your domain name here. Then click the Servers tab.
On this page, ensure that the box is ticked next to 'My Server Requires Authentication', then click the Settings button.
On this page, ensure that it is set to 'Use same settings as my incoming server', then click OK.
The main settings window will again be visible, click the Apply button, then click OK to close the settings window, then click Close to return back to the main Outlook Express window.
Try your new mail settings by clicking Send and Receive.
As you now have two mail accounts, when you start a new message you will have a drop down list to select the 'From' address. When replying to messages, Outlook Express automatically chooses the correct account according to the account from which the message was received.
